Local Young Woman of the Year, Lizi McLeod
One of our long-term clients and office volunteer Lizi McLeod was presented with the Canterbury Bankstown 2019 Local Young Woman of the Year award.
Lizi has been with the centre for what feels like forever. At fourteen, Lizi's father approached centre staff and asked for guidance with his daughter. Lizi has grown up at the Neighbourhood Centre and thus has experienced what it means to care about and help serve the needs of the community.
After starting her formative years with many personal disadvantages, Lizi has found her feet as a young woman and has achieved a great deal for someone her age. After achieving a Band 5 in her HSC, she is now studying a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Psychology) at University, whilst juggling part time work and volunteering.
Lizi has been invaluable at the centre, with her daily tasks ranging from answering phones, communicating with members of the public and completing a myriad of office administration tasks such as filing and setting up for various groups, to taking on the role of project assistant and helping the team with events and school holiday activities.
Lizi has a very bright future ahead of her and we couldn't think of a more excellent recipient of the Canterbury Bankstown 2019 Local Young Woman of the Year award.
